An eminent tourist attraction in Mahabalipuram and one of its kind in the country that requires no introduction is the India Seashell Museum. Baubled with over 40,000 species of shells, this must-visit museum in Tamil Nadu is unfurled over an area of more than one acres of land that includes three edifices. The first one is the museum, which is known for housing various rare and unique seashells. Stroll around and explore the beauty of these seashells including the ‘Breath Maria’, which is one of the only four in the world. As you move forward, the next stopover will be the aquarium complex where you get to see an abundance of ocean and river fishes. Above that, the aquarium building also houses a small market, named Maya Bazar where you can buy the enrapturing pearls, elegant jewelries and other fascinating artefacts made up of seashells. There is also a small section of boutique which offers a fish pedicure for tourists. The entry fees for both museum and aquarium is different and have to be paid at the ticket counter before entering. Moving on to the last building, the restaurant, which will be there to satiate your hunger after the sightseeing tour of museum and aquarium. Must try the seafood which the restaurant is masters in.
