Located in the forests near Idinjar in Thiruvananthapuram district, Kalakkayam Waterfall is one of the top places to see in the area. Kalakkayam also known as Idinjar falls is the part of the Mankayam stream that has its origin at the Agasthyavanam forest. This top tourist attraction is surrounded by an equally picturesque forest, which is great spot for birdwatching. One has to be cautious while stepping on the rocks to reach the small pools at the bottom of the waterfall as the rocks here are slippery and can take one down in an instant, especially in the monsoon season.
