Often mentioned together Cheeyappara and Valara Waterfalls, prominent tourists attraction in Idukki, are located in close proximity to the Cochin-Munnar highway with a dense growth of trees all around. The beautiful Cheeyappara waterfall cascades down in seven steps and meets the Valara Waterfalls in the most amazing manner to create a glorious sight. A lot of people who are on their holiday to Kerala prefer to visit this place on their way back from Munnar as it lies on the main highway and can be spotted very easily between the lush green trees spread everywhere. It is a chain of waterfalls in the Deviyar River that originates from the Western Ghats.
The place attracts not only tourists from different parts of the state & country but plenty of locals, who come here in large numbers to enjoy the magnificent sight of the waterfall. Several species of animals and birds can be spotted in this area, because of which the Cheeyappara waterfall is declared as an ecotourism destination. Also, there is no access to the waterfall and one can only see it from the roadside.
