Spiritual Tour on the Footsteps of Lord Buddha
From the birthplace (Lumbini) to the place where he attained enlightenment (Bodh Gaya ) to the pilgrimage center where he attained Parinirvana after his death (Kushinagar), a visit to all the important places related to Gautam Buddha is included in this itinerary called 'Footsteps of Lord Buddha.' This fully guided 15 days tour will take you to revered Buddhist shrines that are spread across India and Nepal.
Your tour will begin from Maharashtra, where you will be visiting Ellora Caves and Ajanta Caves, archeological sites where you can find many rock-cut Buddhist monuments and monasteries. Leaving Maharashtra, you will proceed to Bhopal to visit the Sanchi Stupa, a rounded hill topped with some of India's oldest Buddhist structures. Moving further, you will visit Agra to see Taj Mahal; and then Varanasi to visit the Bodh Gaya, where you can find the Bodhi tree, the spot where Buddha meditated to attain enlightenment. From Bodh Gaya, you will embark on a journey to Patna by enjoying a stopover Rajgir and Nalanda, some of the important places from Buddha's life. From Patna, embark on a drive to Kushinagar via Vaishali, an ancient city where Gautama Buddha preached his last sermon before his death. When in Vaishali, make a point to visit Pillars of Ashoka.
Going further, you will visit Kushinagar, the site where Buddhist followers believe that Gautama Buddha attained Parinirvana after his death as here they can see the Parinirvana Stupa, 6.10 meters long statue that represent dying Buddha. Kushinagar will also be our last destination in India. Further, you will visit Lumbini, a heritage site where one of the history's greatest and most revered figures, Siddhartha Gautama, was born. The places hold a huge significance for the Buddist pilgrimages from around. From Lumbini, you will be catching a flight to reach Kathmandu, which will also be the last destination of our tour package. When in Kathmandu, you will be visiting a couple of Hindu and Buddhism shrine. From Kathmandu, you will board a flight for your journey onwards. In short, this tour will take you to the all the main pilgrimage sites that mark Buddha's life.
