Bibi Asia Madad from Afghanistan for Mitral Valve Replacement
Asia Madad, a cardiac patient from Afghanistan, had to undergo mitral valve replacement for her condition. Asia Madad, her son, daughter, son-in-law and their children had travelled to India from Afghanistan for the surgical procedure in April 2019. They consulted a couple of hospitals in India but were not happy with the consultations. Finally, they reached out for TMI Medical Tourism team, where the family got all the help they needed.
Asia Madad’s son enquired about the process and shared all the necessary medical details and reports with the Medical Advisor at TMI. After evaluating the case, the advisor provided an estimated cost of the procedure and the services. However, the family could not meet the cost of the treatment and requested for a better quote. The TMI team considered their request and provided a special discount for the family; the family accepted the cost and agreed to proceed with the treatment.
Pre-treatment
Asia Madad and her family were escorted to the Asian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Faridabad by TMI team; AIMS has outstanding expertise in valve replacement surgeries.
Dr. Amit Chaudhary consulted the patient; he is one of the best cardiac surgeons in India with more than 15 years of experience and is the Senior Consultant and Head of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at AIMS. He thoroughly examined the caseand explained the condition to the patient and the family. Considering age and other factors, the doctor recommended that mitral valve replacement must be done with a tissue valve, instead of a metallic valve. The patient and the family provided their consent; the patient was then prepared for the surgery.
The TMI team provided options for accommodation near the hospital; of the given options, the family chose a hotel. The team also provided a complimentary facility for the family to travel to-and-fro from the hotel to the hospital.
Procedure
The patient underwent tissue mitral valve replacement successfully, with no surgical complications. The doctor briefed the patient and the family regarding the care to be taken after the procedure.
Asia Madad’s daughter also underwent a gynaecological check-up at the hospital.
Post-treatment
Asia Madad and her family stayed for another week in India and returned to Afghanistan. Asia Madad’s family expressed their gratitude to the TMI team before their return journey.
In Afghanistan, the family spread the word of TMI among the friends and family and recommended them to visit India for the medical treatments only through TMI.
The TMI team wishes a healthy recovery to Asia Madad!
