Early morning, leave for a full day sightseeing experience, biking towards the Tiger Hill. Witness the very first ray of the sun falling over the magnificent Himalayas. Then visit the Ghoom Monastery, the popular name given to the YigaChoeling which belongs to the Gelukpa or the Yellow Hat sect. It was built in 1875 by Lama SherabGyatso and is famous for its 15 feet high special statue of the Maitreya Buddha. After having your breakfast, resume your ride towards the Darjeeling Railway Station, which is not to far from the monastery. Enjoy the joyride on the famous toy train up to Ghoom. Upon reaching the Ghoom station, hop on your bikes and visit the Himalayan zoo to check-out the numerous species of Himalayan fauna like black bear, snow leopard, the Red Panda, tigers, yaks, etc nurturing in their natural habitat. Then visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, residing right next to it, and also to the museum detailing the gradient of the Mt. Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary & TenzingSherpa and various other major mountaineering expeditions. Then move on to the Tibetan Self Help Centre; a centre that trains young people in the intricate art of the famous Tibetan handlooms and handicrafts.
