It is said that knowledge is power, and Jaipur’s Literature Festival is a perfect platform to gain this power from the literary stalwarts who gather for a healthy exchange of ideas. Having started with a modest beginning in 2006, the festival has become one of the largest literature festivals in Asia. It is the largest free literary festival of the world which attracts some great minds from the likes of well-known authors and writers who engage in meaningful debates and discussions. The historic and elegant Diggi Palace in the Pink city shines with pride for hosting the most promising event of the state. Every year the festival brings together a good mix of educators, historians, sports personalities, corporate honchos and entertainers who discuss practical issues and engage with the crowd. The festival also sees a lot of participation from international authors along with Indian, and some of the topics discussed in recent past were meltdown in South East Asia, cricket writing, politics, alternative sexualities etc. Having seen some great minds in the festival such as J.M. Coetzee, Orhan Pamuk, Wole Soyinka, Girish Karnad, Gulzar, Javed Akhtar, Amish Tripathi, Amartya Sen, Amitabh Bachchan etc, the popularity of this event have reached new heights which has helped to spread wings even in international markets such as Boulder, Colorado, Houston, Texas, Adelaide, British Library in London and New York.

The event is held annually for five days in the month of January mostly towards the end of the month.
Special highlights of the festival:
- Enjoy musical evenings that include Rajasthani folk dance. It is an attempt to give exposure to the Rajasthani culture through this festival.
- There is a range of stalls selling books, food, handicrafts and artefacts of Rajasthan.
- Visitors can buy their favourite book and also get it signed by the author along with a photograph with them.
