The Sri Ganesh Temple in Jodhpur is nestled in the Ratnada hills and attracts a lot of devotees every year from all over the country. The beautiful location of the temple also offers a very scenic view of Jodhpur City. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and has the idols of Riddhi and Siddhi on either side which symbolizes prosperity and accomplishment. Wednesday is considered a very holy day to visit the temple and offer prayers to Gajananda.

The temple is maintained very well and has a very peaceful surrounding which will satisfy your spiritually. Many devotees reach the temple by climbing up through 100-150 stairs which are built to reach the temple. This walking to the temple is considered very holy and is believed to pay respect to Lord Ganesha. If you are taking your personal car there is also a parking zone available below the hill. The best time to visit this temple is the evening when the place is lightened up and you get an amazing view of the location. At the time of special festive occasions, Lord Ganesha is offered ‘chola’ which means the vermilion wash. The idol of the deity is adorned with ornaments and a crown.

History of the Attraction

As per a well known legend, a human-sized sculpture of Lord Ganesha had emerged naturally from this site. The statue is about 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide. After this incident the temple was constructed here which came to be known as the Ganesha temple of Jodhpur city.

Getting There

Tourists can reach the Jodhpur Railway Station or Jodhpur airport via train and flight from any major cities of the country and then avail taxis or buses which drop the passengers to the temple.

Things to Do in and around

From the temple location you can have an amazing view of the places like Umaid Bhavan Palace and the Mehrangarh Fort. It is also considered an amazing place to view the setting sun from the hill top.

Opening/Closing Timings and days

The Ganesh temple of Jodhpur opens from 5am to 12pm and then again from 4pm in the evening to 9pm at night. The pooja timings in the temple vary as per the seasons.

During summer season the pooja timings for the morning starts from 5:30am to 6:00am and for the evening the timings are 7:30pm to 8:00pm.

In the winter season the Morning Prayer starts from 6:00am to 6:30am and evening prayer starts from 7:00pm to 7:30pm.

No admission fee is charged from the visitors.
