Amruteshwar Temple Bhandardara

An embodiment of the Hemadpanthi style of architecture, Amruteshwar Temple was built 1000 years ago. Made of black stones - the temple has a sanctum, a labyrinthine structure dominated by the sculptures of the god, and goddess carved out of stone, and a pond within its complex. According to the locals, the temple is one of 12 temples built in 900AD by King Jhang. It is mainly sacred to Lord Shiva, and thus here one can see a lingam. The temple has an exquisite feature like the there is a hot spring below the Shiv Lingam. In monsoon, when the level of hot spring rises, the main sanctum fills with water. Around the temple, there's a pond, which also carries beautifully sculptures made out of black stone.

Getting There

It would be good to travel by taxi or car as through these mode of transports one can reach here directly. If traveling by bus, then one can get it from Igatpuri but only till Shend. Further tourists will have to walk to reach the temple.

Apart from visit to the temple, one can go for boating on the Arthur Lake.
