Palaruvi Waterfall is one of Kerela's most beautiful waterfalls, which makes its way down from a height of 300 feet, through the dense tropical forest of Kollam. The term Palaruvi, literally means "Stream of Milk" in Malayalam and forms a stunning backdrop of milk-white burst of foam, the sound of which resounds through the otherwise peaceful virgin forests of Kollam. This amazing destination is surrounded by lush green valleys and natural herbal groves, which apparently makes this waterfall, rich in medicinal properties. A lot of tourists visit this spectacular sight to take bath under the waterfall and get benefited with amazing Ayurvedic properties.

This famous picnic spot is located about 75 km away from Kollam, on the Kollam-Shencottah road in Kerela. It is one of the most impressive and easily accessible waterfalls in Kerela and the nearest railway station and International airport from here, lies only some kilometers away. The Palaruvi Waterfall is also referred as white horse's tail because it narrows at the top and widens at the bottom just like a horse's tail. This beautiful stream of milk, as it is called, forms a small pool at the bottom of the waterfall, allowing visitors to take a bath in the medicinal water of the stream.
A number of tourists visit this place for swimming, especially during monsoon as the water flows in full speed and the place is at its full glory with lush green surroundings, during this time of the year.
