Niranam St. Mary's Orthodox Syrian Church, locally known as Niranam church is an ancient church in Kerala located almost 7 kilometers away from Thiruvalla. It is one of the churches established by St. Thomas, one of the twelve Apostles of Jesus Christ in 52 AD. Many pilgrims visit this holy site as it is a well known center of worship for the Christians. One of the great features of this church is its influence of ancient temple architecture. Niranam is also the birth place of some social reformers and poets popular in the name of Karnassa Kavikal. Niranam Church has 5 altars and the central one is the main among them which is in the name of Saint Mary. At the right side of the entrance, there is tall granite cross. The carvings at the base of this cross resemble Hindu Temples.
Niranam Perunnal (Feast) is very famous that draws thousands of devotees. It is dedicated to St. Thomas, who was the founder of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church and the Apostle of India.
