Shri Dattatreya Temple is famously counted among the oldest temples in Goa. Situated in north Goa, it is believed by the locals to possess miraculous healing powers. Often, people with mental & health problems have found themselves healed after visiting the temple.

Features of the Temple

The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Dattatreya, the combined form of Lord Mahesh, Lord Vishnu & Lord Brahma, also known as the Holy Trinity. Its architecture reflects a blend of traditional architectural style, giving it an elegant & stylish look.

The interior, built of white marble, is decorated with intricate carvings & other works of advanced art & craft. At the entrance, visitors are greeted with the statues of a cow (symbolic of Earth) & 4 dogs (symbolic of the 4 Vedas).

The temple is overlooked by a hillock & surrounded by palm groves. The dense green surroundings enhance its beauty, making it a picturesque location.

Datta Jayanti, dedicated to Lord Dattatreya, is the most important festival celebrated in the temple. It attracts a large number of tourists from all over Goa.
