Dhemaji is a naturally beautiful district in the state of Assam lying in the north eastern fringes; one of the places of interest at Dhemaji is the Malini Than. This religious destination is located about 42 km away from the district towards the north eastern direction. This place of worship had been built in dedication to Goddess Malini who had been worshiped here since the ancient times. Being a famous pilgrimage site amidst the hilly ranges of Arunachal Pradesh it is flocked by many devotees and pilgrims almost all round the year. Many archaeological excavations have been carried out in this spot out of which several designs of flowers, sculptures of deities and animals, damaged panels have been discovered. Some of the notable granite stone sculptures found here include Surya riding a chariot, a Nandi bull, Lord Indra on his mount Airavata and Ganesha mounted on a mouse. Many historical monuments have also known to be excavated from this temple area.
