Assam is well known for its tea production and there is also an auction center of tea, which is famous around the world. The tea auction center situated at Guwahati, and named Guwahati Tea Auction Centre or GTAC, is well known for being one of the most busy auction centers for tea. The center was established on the 25th of September, 1970 and one important point about this center is that the largest portion of CTC tea has been auctioned from here. It has a well spread out office and recreational space for the members . The auction space is quite big in size and sprawled around 20,000 square feet.

There are two auction halls in the center, for tea leaves and tea dust auction. Moreover, there is a huge tea warehouse for storing the tea. There are also other places to visit nearby, such as the Guwahati Zoo and the Kamakhya Temple.

The GTAC is located at G. S. Road of Guwahati and the closest landmark of this place is the Dispur Capital Complex. One can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach.

The best time to visit this place is between October and March. The climate remains more or less comfortable during this time, and is ideal for travelling.
