Located in Golaghat district, Garampani is a small town in Assam. It is famous for Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary, which is one of the oldest sanctuaries in Assam. The sanctuary isn’t located in Golaghat district. It lies 25 km away in a district named Karbi Anglong.
Garampani is situated 117 m above the seal level. The Kaziranga National Park is also located nearby and is a famous attraction here.

Garampani is small town and there are not many activities that you can indulge in this town. The Kulpi dam is one place that can be visited here.
Its vicinity, Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary and Kaziranga National Park make it famous among tourists. Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary has hot springs and waterfalls and they look beautiful. You would be able to spot some rare birds here as well. The Nambor Sanctuary surrounds the Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary and has 51 rare species of orchid.
Kaziranga National Park is located at a distance of 65 km from the Garampani Wildlife Sanctuary. This park is home to various species of flora and fauna like leopard, tiger, elephant, one-horned rhinoceros, clouded leopard, and many more. You can also go for tea plantation and village tours here.
Getting There
Garampani is easily accessible from Furkating Railway Junction, which is located 20 km from the sanctuary and you can take any rented private cars to reach Garampani.
Dimapur airport in Nagaland also has many cabs that will take you to the site. National Highway 39 passes through Garampani and the state buses are available from Guwahati to reach the site.
Best Time to Visit
Winter is the best time to visit any place in Assam. The season sets-in during the end of October and continues till beginning of April. Summers are hot and sultry while it rains a lot during monsoons.
