An initiative by the Government of India, Akbarpur is an agriculture research centre that was established to produce grains of improved quality. The institute also provides training on agriculture and how to act as a helping hand to farmers. The research centre is located in the village of Akbarpur in the north of Karimganj district of Assam.

Madan Mohan Akhra (2.1km) is a Hindu temple and is one of the oldest temples of Shri Krishna. Gauriya Moth Temple (2.9km), Ram Thakur Temple (3.0km), Kalibari (2.5km), Shiva Mandir (2.5km) are some other temples to visit while you are near the Research centre. For shopping and other fun activities Centre Bazar Kalibari (1.9km) is the perfect place to hit.
Getting There
Akbarpur is a village that is very near to Karimganj and is easily connected through roadways. Nearest bust stop is Assam State Transport Corporation which is 2.5 km from the place. Other bust stops are Pather Kandi Bus Station, Mokhair Bhanga Bus Stop, all the bus stops have auto rikshaws to take you to Akbarpur. You also get other transport like taxis and cabs which you can take for rental from nearby places to reach this spot.
