The museum exhibits the unique culture, tradition and diversity of Assam culture. It was established in 1940 located at the southern end of Dighalipukhuri water tank. The collection includes some of the bygone era metal work, ivory paintings, folk art, copper plate inscriptions of 5th and 12 century, bamboo items, royal garments, coins and musical instruments. There is also a well stocked library in the museum that contains books and journals on various fields like the art, biography mythology and encyclopedic works.
