Along with being home to a number of Hindu pilgrimage centres, Uttar Pradesh is also an abode for several Muslim religious destinations where pilgrimage can be performed. Whether it be a dargah or a mosque, there are a number of Muslim attractions in all the popular cities and small towns of Uttar Pradesh. Starting from the capital city, Lucknow, pilgrims will witness a number of Muslim shrines. Out of many, the popular ones include Shah Najaf also known as Asfi Mosque, the prime tourist attraction in Lucknow located at the right of the gate of Bara Imambara. The mosque is built on a two-storied plinth which consists of two tall minarets in the courtyard. Deva Sharif is yet another famous Muslim shrine in the City of Nawabs which is a living example of Hindu-Muslim unity. Here people from across the country irrespective of their faith come and play Holi. Dargah-e-Sabri is yet another well-known centre of Sufi pilgrimage in Lucknow which devotees can visit.
Agra, being a land of architectural splendour has most sought after Muslim holy places to visit and worship. The popular religious places in Agra are the Moti Masjid and Jama Masjid which were erected during the reign of Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. One can witness the brilliant examples of refined Mughal architectures. Also, one shouldn’t miss out on visiting Tomb of Itmad-Ud-Daulah which is referred to as the baby Taj for showcasing some similarities with the iconic Taj Mahal. The mausoleum is prominent for its magnificent carvings and designs.
Aligarh which is known for being a significant learning centre also has many Muslim shrines. Tourists visiting Aligarh will get an opportunity to witness a long list of mosques and dargah out of which the popular ones of the city include Sir Syed Masjid which is located in Aligarh Muslim University campus and poses a striking view for the onlookers. Baba Barchi Bahadur Dargah is yet another pilgrimage centre which is visited by people of all religion coming from all parts of the country.
Prayagraj which is a major pilgrimage destination for the Hindus also has numerous Muslim shrines to visit that include Munna Masjid, Bakhtiari Masjid, Shia Jama Masjid. Other than visiting these destinations in Uttar Pradesh, pilgrims can even head to Fatehpur Sikri where they can worship at Sufi Saint Salim Chisti's tomb and at Jama Masjid. Gyanvapi Mosque in Varanasi, Kichocha Sharif Mazar in Ambedkar Nagar, Amroha Shah Wilayat Dargah in Amroha, Shahi Atala Masjid at Jaunpur and Dargah Jamalia in Saharanpur are also important Muslim pilgrimage centres of Uttar Pradesh.
