Kashipur, a small city situated in the Udham Singh Nagar district in the Kumaon Region of Uttarakhand is blessed with natural beauty and a few ancient temples that have immense historical significance. This lowland destination in Uttarakhand has gained popularity as the new industrial city and it houses one of the important B-Schools in India, IIM. Other than industrial development, this city is known for its sanctity as it is the home to several Hindu temples and a Sikh Gurudwara. The tourist places in Kashipur are fewer like Govindsham Fort, the Tumaria Dam, and some ancient temples. During the time of King Harsha of Pushyabhuti Dynasty in 606-647 AD, Kashipur was known as Govishana and the place is also known to have a history of clothes and metal vessels trade.
In the context of the natural beauty, Kashipur has a lot in store for even this. Previously there were 12 lakes in the vicinity of this city but now one can find just three of them. There is also a Gurudwara named Shri Nankana Sahib which has a strong history behind it and is a popular place to visit in Kashipur as well. Shri Bheemshankar Temple and Chaiti Devi Temple are also some of the pilgrimage sites for the visitors but if you are more of a nature lover then you have a good time staying around the Drona Sagar Lake and Giri Sarovar Lake. The ancient Drona Sagar Lake is believed to had been made by the Pandavas for their teacher, Guru Dronacharya. They offered him this lake as Guru Dakshina.
