Paragliding in Sikkim

To have a bird’s eye view of the stunning mountains and tiny villages of Sikkim in the middle of lush green vegetation, is simply awe-inspiring. That’s the reason why this newly introduced adventure sport; paragliding is becoming increasingly popular in Sikkim. The forcing wind on your face while you chase the clouds; the sight of snaky roads travelling through the mountains ending nowhere; the slow paced valleys nourishing the flowery fields and the lonely lands mesmerise you and fill you up with thrill. Sikkim has excellent paragliding launching sites and ridges and hence is slowly catching on in Paragliding as its major adventure sport that’s attracting many tourists.There mainly two paragliding centers in Gangtok, namely; Sikkim Paragliding and Fly Sikkim Adventure. They offer Tandem flights, in which you are accompanied by an experienced and certified pilot. So there is no need of any prior training or experience for you to enjoy paragliding in Sikkim. In 2012, Sikkim had even hosted the 2nd Paragliding Festival which was organized in association with Tourism and Civil Aviation Department. The best time to do Paragliding is autumn and summer (between March-June and Sept-Dec), when the nature is at its best in Sikkim and has a lot to offer.
