The pristine hilly state of India boasts of a number of rivers and a majority of them have their origin from the Himalayas. Of all the four important and popular rivers of Jammu and Kashmir Jhelum, Chenab, Indus and Zanskar are found in Kashmir, Jammu and Ladakh province.
One of the important rivers in the Himalayan Mountain Range, Jhelum River passes through the Kashmir Valley. The river is proud to have nine bridges over it and boasts of the Trimmu Barrage, Rasul Barrage and the Mangla Dam. Flowing through the Jammu district, Chenab River is the confluence of two rivers in the Himalayas known as Bhaga and Chandra Rivers. Coming to Indus River, it runs a course through the Ladakh region which originates in the Tibetan Plateau in the Lake Mansarovar.
