Considered an offbeat destination due to its secluded location, Kalpa has a very limited connectivity with the rest of India. However, reaching here is not difficult, but it does require 15-20 hours of arduous journey from Chandigarh and Delhi.
By Air:
The nearest airport to Kalpa is the Shimla Airport (275 km away). The Shimla Airport is well-connected to many major cities of the country like Delhi, Chandigarh and Mumbai. Buses and Taxis for Kalpa are available from outside the airport. One can also hire Government and Private Buses from the New and Old Bus Stands of Shimla. The nearest international airport near Kalpa is in Chandigarh, at a distance of 335 km. From Chandigarh Bus Station, buses are available for Reckong Peo, from where Kalpa is 7 km away.
By Rail:
The nearest railway station to Kalpa is the Shimla Railway Station (244 km away), which is one of the major railway stations of Himachal Pradesh. One can hire a bus or a taxi from here for Kalpa. However, the Kalka Railway station offers better connectivity with other cities of India. The station is situated at distance of 309 km away, and taxis are available from here to reach Kalpa or Shimla.
By Road:
This is the best way to reach Kalpa if you are travelling from Delhi or Chandigarh or any other place in North India. HRTC has frequent buses going to Reckong Peo from Delhi and Chandigarh. One can either take the HRTC ordinary bus for Reckong Peo from Kashmere Gate in Delhi (19 hours journey) or the HRTC Semi-deluxe bus for Reckong Peo from Chandigarh (14 hours journey). From Reckong Peo, regular buses and cabs are available to take you to Kalpa
