Sigem Daporijo Reserve Forest is situated in the rain forest range in Arunachal Pradesh. This forest houses a wide range of flora and fauna and it also a birdwatcher’s paradise. Among the collections of plants and trees in the forest, there are Bahera, Simul, Nahar, Borpat, Amari, tita sopa Gonsorai and others. On the other hand, one can also sight rare collections of semi evergreen trees like Sam, maj, Udal, and Siris. Amongst the different varieties of birds that can be witnessed here are Owls, Partridges, Peacock Pheasant, Tragopan, Water hen, Night Jar, Thrushes, Barbets, Woodpeckers, Babblers, Bluejoy of Rollar, Lapwing, Tragopan, Pin-tailed Green Pigeon, Ashy Wood Pigeon, Speckled Wood Pigeon, Parakeets, Kingfishers, Great Indian pied hornbill, Wreathed Hornbill, and Orioles.a large number of Christian population. The celebration comprises offering prayers and a grand feast.
Getting There
One can hire a cab till the reserve forest and then has to trek inside to explore the place.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit the place is during the months of October to May when the weather remains quite pleasant.
Things to Do & See in and around
Birdwatching and trekking are the two prominent activities enjoyed here. Apart from this, one can go on a sightseeing of Daporijo and visit Meghna cave temple, Kamala reserve forest, and Daporijo Good Shepherd church. One can also try rafting in the Subansiri River.
