Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary Arunachal Pradesh

Bordering Itanagar, the capital of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary is a prominent wildlife reserve for sightseeing where you can spot species like Sambar, Barking Deer, Elephant herbs, Tiger, and Panthers. Also here one can spot the state's national bird - Hornbill. Apart from the sanctuary, the prominent destinations here to visit Zoological Park, the Ganga Lake, the Ita Fort, the State Museum and the State Forest Research Institute.

One of the most beautiful wildlife reserves in India, Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary covering an area of 140.30 sq km is located in Naharlagun, Itanagar, the capital city of Arunachal Pradesh. The wildlife sanctuary shares border with Pam River in the East, Pachin in the South, Neorochi on the North-East and Chingke stream in the North. The sanctuary is home to species like tiger, deer, leopard and elephant. Further adding to its beauty are a good variety of Orchids. The Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a good number of hornbills species but due to constant human interference, their habitation has reduced to a great extent. Earlier, they were easy to spot but now they are only visible in eastern and northern part of the sanctuary. The sanctuary is also known for its vegetation too, which are classified as tropical semi-evergreen and wet evergreen.

Itanagar Wildlife Sanctuary is part of Yupia, which is 17 kilometers from Itanagar. For stay, one can either choose Itanagar, or Yupia, where finding an accommodation option is not a problem. Close to Yupia, there's just one hotel but Itanagar there are many accommodation options readily available.
