Mumbai

This city never sleeps, nor does its dreamers and hard workers and that’s what makes people call it the ‘City of Dreams’. While some spend time along the beaches and temples to seek answers, some wake up every day with new dreams to become a star, others struggle to catch the running local trains to live another day in the city that never stops for anyone. With the great Indian film industry on one corner, slums on the next, mafias on the other and fashion on the last, Mumbai is a place strangely big and strangely for stunning.

Nashik

Spreading a different kind of charm on the northern part of Maharashtra is the holy city of Nashik. Settled somewhere between Mumbai and Pune, this city gives a little credit to mother nature for blessing it with such greenery, soothing atmosphere, and slides in some points for the social and cultural importance it embodies and lets traveller experience it. The flowing Godavari river also stops by for a moment to praise Nashik while the travellers are pulled in to the aromatic vineyards Nashik possesses, one of the best in the whole of India.

Aurangabad (Ellora & Ajanta Caves)

No other place in India has probably been blessed with the Mughal architecture like Aurangabad. The city which once dawned the air of royalty under the rule of the last Mughal emperor, Aurangzeb after whom the land is named came down to dust after his death. But during his reign, the city was a shining star which shared the sky with finely built monuments like Bibi Ka Maqbara and Panchakki. Travellers who come to Mumbai, don’t forget to take the journey ahead to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Aurangabad, Ajanta Caves, and Ellora Caves. While Ajanta Caves are known for showcasing its heritage in 30 rock-cut Buddhist cave monuments, Ellora caves on the other boasts of being one of the largest rock-cut monastery-temple cave complexes in the world.

Kolhapur

A little far from every tourist place of Maharashtra but a little close to wanderers is Kolhapur, the historically blessed city of the western state. Upon looking closely, this historic city brims with the religious importance which its famous Mahalakshmi Temple and many festivals portray fully. When people get tired of running round in circles, the soothing environs of Kolhapur comes to the rescue. Crossing the streets of the city, people are meant to sight the vibrant markets where lies the most favourite part of a tour here, the kolhapuri chappals (a kind of footwear) and the spicy Kolhapuri cuisine which is all about mutton and chicken delicacies.

Goa

A place where the sunrise seems as beautiful as the sunset, food tastes more amazing, parties seem a little crazier and the world seems to slow down, that’s what Goa is for people. Juggling between North and South, the state hides something offbeat for the explorer kind as well. Walking along the cobbled streets of this tourist destination, people often come across its exclusive architecture in the form of buildings and shrines which are deeply influenced by Portuguese culture. And that’s not where the exploring ends as the Latin quarters of Goa takes travellers for a tour to the ruins which are till date cherished.

Sindhudurg

Even a thousand words won’t be able to suffice the extravagance of Sindhudurg. A popular district of Maharashtra which pulls in travellers for its historical importance which is present in the form of forts, which are all that this land is famed for in India. It was when this land was carved out of the Ratnagiri district, that Sindhudurg came to the notice of many travellers. From its brilliant forts, namely Sindhudurg Fort, Vijaydurg Fort to the embracing nature of its Devbag Sangam Beach and Tarkarli Beach, there is a lot more to know and experience about Sindhudurg when in Maharashtra.
