A yearly occasion, Nimalung Tshechu is celebrated in Bumthang to mark the birth anniversary of Guru Rinpoche. The celebration is celebrated on the consummation on the tenth day of the Bhutanese Calendar which is held in Nimalung Buddhist Monastery. The Tshechu’s are sorted out in almost every region of Bhutan and it is no less than a New Year Celebration. The main feature of Nimalung Tshechu is the mask dances which are performed by the Buddhist monks and songs and dance by the local villagers. This mask dance has a religious significance which is believed doing so with cast out the evil. Also one can head to attain blessings at the Buddhist Monasteries like Tharpaling Monastery, Lamey Gompa, Kunzangdra Monastery. Besides, the other points of interest in Bumthang includes Ogyen Choling Museum, Burning Lake, Jakar Dzong.
