How to Reach Bumthang?
Bumthang is one of the important districts of Bhutan and has a domestic airport with regular flight connectivity to the Paro International Airport. Also, there are regular buses plying from Thimphu to Bumthang, so reaching the tourist destination is quite convenient.
By Air
This is one of the best and fastest ways to reach Bumthang. Tourists must take a flight to Paro, Bhutan’s only International Airport which connecting flights to and from the countries including Nepal, Thailand, India, Bangladesh and Singapore. The flight to Bumthang’s Bathpalathang Airport in Jakar is departed from Paro. From Jakar it takes half an hour to reach Bumthang, so tourists can hire a cab for onward journey.
By Road
There is a bus service that operates between Thimphu and Bumthang. As public transport is very limited to these areas, so there is one bus leaving every morning at 8:00 AM from Thimphu bus stand. For those up for a road trip can hire a cab to reach Bumthang covering 9-10 hours of journey. Even though cab is a comfortable option but it can get a bit expensive when travelling from Thimphu to Bhutan. So, travelling by cab in groups would be an ideal choice.
