Bhutan Birding Tour in Summer

Day 1: Paro – Thimphu

On your arrival at the Paro International Airport, you will be greeted by our representative who will help you transport to Thimphu. In the evening, we will be going for birdwatching around the sewage pond and Wang Chu.

Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 2: Thimphu – Dochula – Punakha

Today, early in the morning, we shall drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3150). En route Punakha, we will stop at Lamperi Botanical. After reaching Punakha in the afternoon, we will visit Punakha Dzong.

Overnight stay in Punakha.

Day 3: Punakha – Nobding – Phobjikha

Early morning today, we will head to Phobjikha Valley. En route, birding on the entire stretch of Nobding.

Day 4: Phobjikha – Pelela – Trongsa – Bumthang

Today’s schedule will include bird watching in the morning along the Pelela Pass, a 3400 old road which we will cross on our way to Bumthang via Trongsa. We shall also be birding at few other stops en route Bumthang.

Overnight stay in Bumthang.

Day 5: Bumthang – Phrumshingla – Sengor

Today, we will be driving to Sengo via Phrumshingla (3800m). After reaching and resting for sometime, in the evening, we shall be birding around Sengor.

Overnight stay in Sengor.

Day 6: Sengor – Namling – Yongkala

We will spend time birdwatching around Sengor and Phrumshingla area. Later, we’ll head to Yongkala. We will be enjoying birding along the forest of Namling and Yongkala. Accommodation will be provided in the tents.

Day 7,8 & 9: Yongkala – Namling – Limithang Road

For three days, our birdwatching schedule will include Namling, upper and lower Limithang road, which is one of the finest birding areas in the Himalayas. Spend three nights in Yongkala. Accommodation will be provided in the tents.

Day 10: Yongkala – Phrumshingla – Trongsa

Today, we will make our way back to Trongsa and we will be looking and listening to the flocks.

Overnight stay in Trongsa.

Day 11: Trongsa – Paro

We will be heading back to Paro, the drive should take about 6hrs. En route, we will be making stops whenever we run into the flocks.

Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 12: Paro – Chelila Birding

In the morning, we will drive to the alpine meadow of Chele la pass (3890m) for high altitude birding. Drive back to Paro for lunch. In the evening, birdwatching along Pa Chu (Paro River). Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 13: Paro – Tiger’s Excursion

This will be the day to visit the famous Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the most beautiful Buddhist temples in Bhutan.

Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 14: Departure

Drive to Paro International Airport.
