It all started when the UK (United Kingdom) Government had imposed strict covid travel restrictions on Indian tourists even after having fully vaccinated covid certificate. They imposed a 10-day quarantine for Indian tourists in the UK which was considered as discriminatory by the Indian government. But after discussions at various levels, the problem is resolved between both the countries and as a result there are no covid related travel restrictions for tourists from the United Kingdom.
The Indian government has withdrawn the travel restrictions for UK Nationals that it had imposed earlier followed by the British government’s decision to dismantle the mandatory testing and quarantine norms for Indian tourists vaccinated with Covidshield. Now, UK travelers are able to plan a vacation to India without any restrictions.

The ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a fresh order saying that the previous guidelines on International Tourists dated February 17, 2021 will be applicable for UK travelers.
“Revised guidelines for UK nationals arriving in India issued on October 1, 2021, stand withdrawn, and earlier guidelines on international arrival dated February 17, 2021, shall be applicable for those arriving in India from the UK”, the Ministry of Health said in the new order”- said, The Ministry of Health.
However, it is important to note that the travelers will have to undergo necessary quarantine if he or she has not visited any red list country or territory in 10 days.
The reciprocal travel restrictions for the travelers from the UK is scrapped but there are still some essential covid -19 travel guidelines which need to be followed. The new travel rules for British travelers will absolutely ensure their safety and enable them to enjoy the popular Indian tourist destinations without any hassle.

Note: India is opening up for foreign tourists from Friday – 15 October, 2021. Travellers coming from the UK through Chartered flights will get visas from 15th of October, 2021 and the regular flights will start operating from 15th of November.

- All international Travelers coming/ transiting from UK flights must submit a self-declaration form for covid on Air Suvidha Portal.
- It is also important to declare the travel history of the past 14 days.
- An RT-PCR Test report not less than 72 hours before the scheduled travel must be necessary to show and you also have to upload it on the online portal.
- Get travel insurance and check if it provides sufficient cover. It is always a good decision to have it.
- You need to maintain a proper social distance and always carry a bottle of sanitizer and wear a mask.
