India’s second private train, Ahmedabad-Mumbai Tejas Express, which is operated by IRCTC, a subsidiary of Indian Railways, will run between Ahmedabad and Mumbai. We say it is the second private train, because the first was Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express. A semi-high speed train, it will cover the distance between Ahmedabad and Mumbai in 6 hours 30 minutes.
Seating arrangements onboard the train
The Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express Train will have two executive class chair cars, consisting of 56 seats each. It will also consist of eight chair cars with a seating capacity of 78 passengers. Altogether, the train will have a passenger carrying capacity of 736 passengers.
Schedule of the Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express
According to the Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express Time Table, the train will depart Ahmedabad at 06:60 AM and arrive in Mumbai at 1:10 PM. The train’s route will consist of commercial halts at Nadiad, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Vapi and Borivali.
During its return journey, the train will depart Mumbai at 3:40 PM and arrive in Ahmedabad at 9:55 PM. The route will consist of halts at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara and Nadiad. It will run six days a week except Thursdays, as maintenance activities will be carried out on that day.

Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express booking can only be done online. Online booking can be done on the IRCTC website. Tickets for the Tejas Express will not be available at railway reservation counters. It should also be remembered that the train’s fares will be dynamic in nature, which means that the fares will be different for lean, busy and festive seasons.
The fares will also be decided on point-to-point basis, while bookings can be done 60 days in advance. No concession tickets will be available, while children below 5 years will be exempted from the fare. The names of the children below 5 years of age will also not appear on the train chart. Children who are above five years of age will be charged the full fare, besides being provided with a seat.
Users will also be able to view the current booking after the first chart has been prepared, which will normally be between four hours before and up to five minutes before the train is scheduled for departure.

Tatkal or premium tatkal quota will not be available in the Ahmedabad Mumbai Tejas Express. There will be 6 seats in EC (executive chair car coach), and 12 seats in CC (AC chair car coach) for foreign tourists quota.
Ahmedabad Mumbai Train offers compensation policy
Those travelling by Ahmedabad Mumbai Train will also be glad to know that the train will offer compensation policy. In cases where the train is delayed by more than an hour, it will pay a compensation of Rs. 100. If it is delayed by more than two hours, the compensation amount will be Rs. 250.
