Desert Festival in Jaisalmer is an annual event of three days held in the month of Magh (February), before the full moon with pomp and pride. The last day falls on the full moon day. This year the Desert Festival will be held on 22- 24 February. The festival has various programmes placed at different venues in and around Jaisalmer concluding at Sam Dunes which is 42 km from the city of Jaisalmer.

Jaisalmer Desert Festival goes back to Hindu Mythology. It is said that Lord Krishna once said to Arjuna that one of the rulers of Yadava clan would build his kingdom on Trikuta hills. His prophecy became true.
