The joint venture of Rajasthan Tourism and Indian Railways, Palace on Wheels, the luxury train, is finally back after two-year of Covid hiatus. On Saturday, October 8th, Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot flagged off India’s one of the most luxurious trains, Palace on Wheels at Gandhinagar Railway Station.
Addressing the flag-off ceremony, Rajasthan Tourism posted an update on Twitter, which says, “HCM Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot flags off ‘Palace on Wheels’ fam tour along with Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh, Minister of State Tourism Murari Lal Meena, Industries Minister Shakuntala Rawat, RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, & PST Gayatri Rathore among others.”
Ashok Gehlot, CM of Rajasthan also addressed the press saying that this royal train has been adding glory to luxury train experiences in India for 40 years and setting an example for the world. He emphasised his speech by adding, “Its resumption indicates that the tourism sector in the state is going to emerge stronger.” The Honourable Chief Minister of Rajasthan also informed the press that to incorporate a better experience of its royal luxury train tour in India, Indian Railways and Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation have added modern furnishings and additional amenities to the train. CM Gehlot also supervised the stock of facilities on Palace on Wheels before departure.

- The first Rajasthan’s luxury train, Palace on Wheels started its journey in 1982.
- As a matter of rail gauges changing, the second Rajasthan royal train was built in 1991 and the third in 1995.
- Palace on Wheels train route includes six cities of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Jaisalmer and Bharatpur.
