When is the Best Time to Visit Kaziranga National Park in Assam?

Kaziranga National Park is situated partly in Nagaon district and partly in Golaghat district of the Assam state. UNESCO has listed Kaziranga among the world heritage sites. The park is famous globally for the great one-horned rhinos. The climate in Kaziranga is typically tropical. It is very hot and humid in summers (April – June), and warm days and cold nights in winters (November – January). Every year, the water of the Brahmaputra River floods the park during the monsoon. The rainy season continues from June to August. Kaziranga becomes inaccessible during this season. November to April is the best time to visit Kaziranga National Park.

Summer Season in Kaziranga – March to May

Summer Season in Kaziranga is not very pleasant for nature sightseeing because of the hot and humid weather. The temperature goes up to 37 degree Celsius in Summer season here.   • By Air: Jorhat (96 kms) is the nearest airport.
  • By Rail: Furketing (75 kms) is the nearest station.
  • By Bus: It is advisable to come to Jorhat or Guwahati (240 km) and then take (a cab or a bus to reach the park.
