Important Camping Tips & Guidelines to Enjoy Safe and Pleasant Holidays

If you are planning to have an escape from the city life and want to bask in the lap of nature, plan a camping trip. Camping involves the use of caravans, tents, a primitive structure or even no shelter at all. It is certainly a matchless fun but there are some tips and guidelines, which you should follow to remain safe while camping.

What are Important Tips?

Maintain Hygiene: Cleanliness is the first and foremost consideration when you go out camping. Your clothes and body should be clean. Keep the basic things related to hygiene, such as hand sanitizers, sponge, cotton balls, etc at hand. Never use fragrant lotions, perfumes and scents as they can attract bugs. When you feel tired, you may go to the streams nearby to soak your feet.

Carry a Survival Kit: Being prepared for all contingencies is the key to a successful camping trip. Equipments like survival knives, water purification tablets, waterproof matches, and flashlights are indispensable items to carry.

Beware of Getting Lost: This is something that an expert camping freak will always advise you. Usually, the campers get mislead from their path. This mishap can be avoided if you carry along a few basic tools on the trip. GPS, map and a compass can save you from getting lost. Read the map properly before going on the camping tour.

Avoid Bugs: When you are going to set the tent or similar type of shelter, beware of bugs and wasp nests. Long pants and shirts are ideal clothes to wear. Carrying an insect repellent is advisable. To save food from bugs and insects, keep all the edible material high above the ground.

Leave Nothing at the Campsite After Leaving: Preserving nature should be the first priority of a camping enthusiast. You should make certain that you are not leaving any trace behind after leaving the campsite. Put up the camp at a place where campers have stayed before. Bury the human-waste deep in the ground and do not leave any equipment or for that matter anything that can harm the environment and the animals on the spot as it is you who is responsible for ensuring that the site can be used by campers in future as well.

A Sleeping Bag is a Must: The sleeping bag you are taking with you should be suitable for the conditions that exist at the camping destination. Placing a long cushion or a pad with your sleeping bag can enhance the sleeping experience. You may also keep heavy duty plastic bag to cushion your head instead of bringing a pillow.

Create or Find a Shelter Before Sunset: Pitching the camp before dark is one of the most significant tips for camping. You may also ask a salesperson to suggest you about the camp suitable to your needs. Small tents must be preferred over the bigger ones. You should also carry a rain shower curtain to place on the ground in case there is a downpour. Night is not the good time for pitching a tent as you may choose a place that is full of insects and bugs. Moreover, you will also face difficulties in placing the tent in the absence of light if you are setting it in dark.
